I do have a special recipe that I use every morning, but it’s not only about brewing, it combines the three major steps needed to make great coffee; roasting, grinding, and brewing. Brewing alone is just part of the process and most people have been convinced that it’s the most important part, it’s not!
The most important part to making great coffee is roasting it yourself. It’s very easy to do and achieve professional results with the right, inexpensive, equipment. The big coffee companies do not want you to know this because they want you to continue buying their already roasted, vacuum sealed coffee, which, IMO, is old, stale, and dead.
Here is my morning recipe:
- I roast my coffee in my own roasting machine I call the Power Roaster. It roasts 120 grams in about 6 minutes, enough for 6 – 8 cups of strong coffee.
- After roasting I grind my coffee in a Burr Grinder (any brand will do). I use the fine setting and grind just enough to be used immediately (you do not want to have already ground coffee sitting around, it oxidizes and decomposes immediately after grinding).
- I use a 6 cup Moka Pot (also referred to as a Stovetop Espresso).
Follow those guidelines and you will be amazed at how good your coffee will be! You will also find that you will want to drink LESS coffee if made this way because it’s potency and effects will be strong!
