The birth of the home roasting movement!
Its actually a re-birth because 160 years ago everyone roasted their own coffee at home. The difference this time around is the use of more advanced electrical equipment that makes the process quick, easy, and efficient.
The industrial Age brought with it the desire for convenience and time management which is how commercial coffee roasting became the preferred method for many people. However, after decades of this practice, there has recently been the realization that the quality has suffered greatly. Now with technological improvements to machinery, more and more people are understanding how much of a difference roasting their own coffee makes to the end result.
There is also an economic benefit as it is much less expensive to purchase unroasted green coffee than it is to buy already roasted coffee. So, not only are people benefitting from much better coffee, they are saving money in the process.
