Is there such a thing as developing a tolerance for the effects of strong coffee?

From my personal experience, I would answer, Yes and No.

If you are talking about the effects of caffeine alone (which is the only powerful substance remaining in coffee that has been sitting for days, weeks, and months after it has been roasted), my answer is Yes. It is easy to become addicted to caffeine and create a tolerance for it. There are many people who drink coffee all day long and experience diminishing effects of the caffeine.

However, if you are using 100%, Arabica coffee (which has HALF the caffeine as the cheaper Robusta variety) and using it soon after it is roasted (within a day or two), I have experienced complete satisfaction in only having one cup of coffee a day in the early morning. I believe that I am getting a lot of other chemical substances in addition to the caffeine which makes me feel enlivened, happy, and inspired. After my one morning cup, the effects last for hours and suppress any desire for another cup. In this way, I am able to receive the benefits every day without increasing my tolerance levels.

All about coffee........."From the Cherry to the Cup". My experience with coffee has been a lifelong journey studying, experiencing, and practicing how to get the maximum amount of effect from this mystical, magical, sacred fruit. The coffee I am creating is medicinal quality and I, and others I turn on to it, are getting high off of it! Coffee is the most widely used psychoactive drug on the planet and is probably the least understood in terms of its effects on the human brain and body. I will try to de-mystify, de-bunk, and deliver logical and practical ways the average person can benefit most from coffee's special qualities.
